The Cowboy's adventure

There were two cowboys called Rose and John Marsden.
They went out for a muster.
It was a stormy night. John Marsden was moving the cows.
Suddenly there was a lightening strike.
The cows got scared and ran into the bush. John Marsden went home and waited until the morning.
In the morning he had his breakfast and then hopped on his horse and went out looking for the cows on the open paddocks.
First was the long paddock, second was the small paddock and last was the medium sized paddock. But the cows were not in the four paddocks. The gates were open.
So he tied his horse up and hopped off and went into the bush.
He tripped over and hit his head.

Two days later ...
John Marsden woke up in the bush.  His horse was sniffing him. He hopped on his horse and rode home slowly. He had another sleep to rest his head. He just hoped that the cows would come back!

Derek Speech

"Dont forget until too late that the business of life is not business, but living . I am going to tell you about Barry Crump and his many achievements.
Barry Crump was born in 1935 and died in 1996  . He was a good keen man.
He was born in Papatoetoe and grew up on dairy farms.
His favourite thing is pig hunting. When his dad wanted him to be a dairy farmer at the age of 19, he ran away and did pig hunting. He went into the bush and stayed away for a couple of days before he came back. He loved the New Zealand bush.
He had a job as a deer culler for the government. He went into the native bush and shot the deer that were pests.
His books were written from his experiences when he was deer hunting. One of his most popular books was "A good keen man" People in New Zealand loved it.
He also wrote about what pig hunting is like and what you do.
But he wasn't just a pig hunter, deer culler and an author. He was all sorts. Did you know he had 5 wives, a dog called Blue and 6 children. All of them were boys. That must have kept him busy!
He was also an actor, TV personality, a poet, a traveller, a goldminer, a photographer ... he even made 2 Toyota ads.
He is a strong, brave man. He said that he will always be a kiwi bushman. I would like to grow up to be a kiwi bushman like him.

Commonwealth games

To the commonwealth games at Cheltenham school we went. We did discus. Then we did high jump. Then we did gymnastics and archery and running. I was the first to shoot the nerf gun. I really enjoyed the drinks, doing high jump, shooting guns and playing on the playground. We had a great day playing with lots of people!

Mr Mr Sunny

Mr Sunny is like a busy bee bringing honey in to the hive each day. He is always busy helping everyone by himself. For example he saw everyone stuck and then he helped them. Straight after that someone else asked him to help them. I think it is good to be busy because then you don't get bored

He likes to have fun. Having is fun is enjoying yourself. I know he likes to have fun because he was planning a party to see all of his friends. He wanted to make apple strudel and have fun with his friends.
I think it is good to like to have fun because he is not just sitting there being lazy but he is out there dancing or playing and having fun with his friends.

From Mr Sunny I have learnt ...

Pig Hunting

Pig Hunting
Put on warm gear
Call the dogs
Hop on the four wheeler
Grab your gun, knife and bullets
Head to the bush
Tramp into the bush
Let the dogs go
Wait ... excited
Wait ... scared
Wait ... while the dogs sniff for a pig
Wait ... hoping they will get a pig

I hear a bark
I rush up to the bush
With my dog tracker

I see the boar
I know I have dinner!
