The Lucky Escape
Once upon a time, there were two little boys, Tyler and Derek. They were hunting pigs in bush in the valley. It was dark and spooky, with branches cracking and vines swirling because of the wind. They were looking through their binoculars and suddenly they saw a young boar with no tusks rooting for bugs and mushrooms.
They carefully sneaked through the bush. Suddenly Tyler snapped a branch and the boar looked up and saw us. The boar jogged off. We started chasing it. It ran into the middle of nowhere.
The boys stopped and stared at the creaking bridge while the pig ran over it. On the other side was a stone castle that was falling down. The pig ran across the slimy bridge and into old castle. Into the castle it went. The boys heard a scream in the creepy castle.  When Tyler and Derek walked in they heard a creak. The creak came from inside. Tyler  jumped back, looked up and  then heard another creak. They tip toed along and then split up. Derek walked up the stairs and there were four eyes and Derek jumped over. Tyler saw a hole in the floor and fell in. He screamed!
This is the story Derek told ...
I looked back. I  wondered where Tyler was.
“He must have taken a turn,” I thought. “No wait, that hole wasn’t there. Tyler must have fallen down. There must been a missing board.”
I heard a sream then it went quite.I turn my torch on and slowly climbed down through the hole. Below the hole was a big hallway. I walked down the hallway. It was scary because spiders crawled on the wall and it was smokey meaning you could not see well. The hallway kept on going and going. I felt  along the wall and looked up. It was dark and smokey behind me. But there was a wall behind me. It was slimy like a frog or a snail had moved all over it.
I heard a squeal down the hallway. It felt like a pig squealing. Then I heard Tyler scream, “HELP!”
I sprint down the hallway, listening to where the scream came from.  When I heard it again it was around the corner.
Suddenly I thought I had my torch with me... but I must have dropped it while I was coming down the hallway.  Without a  torch I couldn’t see well so I was running along touching the wall.
Suddenly I spotted a pig tied up.  I thought Tyler had done it but then I realised that we hadn’t carried rope!
As I looked further down the hall I saw a witch trying to tie Tyler up. I grabbed a stick, sprinted to Tyler and pushed her away. Then I saw a knife. Tyler was half tied up.
“I’d better grab the knife and cut him loose!”
I freed him and we made a run for the door.  We got outside and saw the road.  We ran toward the road.
In the distance we heard a car.  We sprinted toward the road.  We watched the car turn into a driveway. We followed the car into the driveway to get a phone to ring home.

We need helicopters
Why?
They can help save us
They can take us to places we can’t get to
They can help us with our farming

Helicopters are used to get injured people out of tricky places like in the bush or on the mountain or in a fire. Helicopters can get to dangerous places where a car and an airplane can’t get to. Helicopters are used for rescues where speed counts.
Just imagine if I was tramping. I had to walk through a valley and then up to the top of a cliff. The bush is all around me. Imagine if a goat jumped out behind me. I got a fright and rolled down the cliff. I hit a tree sticking out on the way down. Luckily it stopped me but I am injured and I have to get to the hospital. This is a job for a helicopter!

Imagine if I wanted to go to a mountain with bush on it. I wanted to go hunting in the middle of nowhere. A helicopter could drop me there.
Imagine if I wanted to go skiing at the top of the mountain. There isn’t a chairlift and the ski motorbike can’t get there. A helicopter could drop me at the top.
Helicopters can take us to places that are new or hard to get to.

On our farms helicopters are good for fertilising our paddocks. Especially the paddocks on a steep hill or with heaps of lumps. You can’t fertilise these with the four wheeler so you NEED a helicopter. Farmers love helicopters.

We all love helicopters. They can do nearly anything!

golf

Golf Learning at Apiti School

I learnt before you hit the ball you do left hand, right hand, little step, big step, drop, pop and tilt and fire. We learnt outside by the rugby posts with Karen. She brought rings, tees, clubs, soft balls, hard balls,  cones and hula hoops. My favourite part when the ball is flying in the air. My best was long shots. I really liked to go to golf.
